Hold Point Prep

Hold Point Prep publishes unofficial field explainers for weld inspection and coating inspection. The work is methods: what to look at, what to write down, and how to choose an instrument that can actually do the job.

What the site is for

The gauge guides are original notes on coating thickness gauges, surface profile gauges, dew point meters, and holiday detectors. They are here so a reader can compare a tool to the work, not so a page can crown a model. The course is a separate self-paced set of lessons. The videos are short explainers on the same subjects.

What the site refuses

• It is not affiliated with or endorsed by AWS, API, AMPP, or Amazon.
• It is not an official class, and it does not confer a credential.
• It does not copy standard text, tables, or figures, and it does not print acceptance numbers, voltages, or dew-point margins.
• It does not include recalled exam items.
• It does not say that anyone will pass a test, and it does not say that a certifying body will count the time as renewal credit.
• It does not use client sites, client drawings, or client names.

When a project specification, a current standard, or a product data sheet disagrees with a page here, those documents are the authority.
