Self-paced course
Field practice: pipeline welds and coatings
$149
A self-paced course for people who already stand near welds and coatings and want cleaner field habits. Unofficial. Not a credential. The voice and the pictures are AI-generated.
The voice and the graphics are AI-generated. No person was filmed. The voice is Piper's free Ryan medium model, an open-source text-to-speech voice tuned a little faster and a little brighter than the model default. It is not the instructor's voice. Captions are included. Read that sentence before you buy. If a later edition is re-recorded in the instructor's own voice, this page will say so.
The sales page is boomerledgerco.com/b/dZySh. That link is the course. It is not an Amazon product link.
What the lessons cover
The weld half is pipeline practice in the spirit of API 1104 work: the shape of an inspection day, visual discontinuities, fit-up, what to watch while the weld is made, and how procedures and qualifications differ. The coating half is surface cleanliness, profile, the air and the steel and the dew point, dry film thickness, and holiday detection. Both halves end in a daily report another person can use.
It teaches methods. It does not recite acceptance tables. When you need a number, a voltage, a cleanliness grade, or a dew-point margin, you open the edition named in the project specification, and you open the product data sheet.
What this course is not
This course is unofficial. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by AWS, API, or AMPP. It is not an official class. It does not include a code book, an exam, or a credential. It does not say that anyone will pass a test. It does not say that a certifying body will accept the time as renewal credit. You keep your own records. The certifying body decides what it accepts.
Nothing in the lessons is a recalled exam item. Nothing on screen is a table or a figure copied from a standard. The sketches are original teaching drawings. Practice on coupons, panels, and instruments you are allowed to use.
What you get
- Produced video for all 13 lessons, introduction through the closing practice lesson, at 1280x720, with captions.
- The lesson scripts beside those videos.
What you do not get
- A code book, a standard, or a license to one.
- An exam, a practice test built from exam items, or a score.
- A credential, a card, or a listing on anyone's certification roll.
- A statement that the hours are approved renewal credit.
- The instructor's face or the instructor's voice. This edition's voice is synthetic.
Who it is for
The course is Rob's unofficial draft. Rob is an AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector and an AWS CWI (API 1104). The course is not an AWS course, an API course, or an AMPP course.
It is for apprentices, helpers who are about to be trusted with a gauge, and working inspectors who want a refresher that refuses to bluff. It is not for anyone shopping for a pass, a shortcut around the standard, or an official renewal class.
